Landlocked and perched up at a high elevation, Calgary isn’t exactly an ideal place for those of us who struggle with skin problems. I’ve dealt with eczema for most of my life and unfortunately, it seems I’ve passed this trait on to Grayson. His isn’t a terrible case of eczema, but it’s enough to cause a few red, dry, scaly patches that show up after a swim in the pool or sometimes even just a bath.
Over the past 16 months, I’ve tried all kinds of products to ease his skin problems – creams, soaps, oils, balms, etc. For the most part, they’ve helped keep the eczema patches from growing but nothing actually got rid of them.I was mentioning this irritation to a friend of mine and she recommended Stelatopia Cream Cleanser. Stelatopia is a skin care line from Mustela that is designed specifically for eczema-prone skin. It’s pricey, so I was a bit hesitant to give it a try, but I’m glad I did.
I swapped out Grayson’s regular bath soap for the Stelatopia, and within three days the dry patches were gone. Seriously, I’m well aware that this is starting to sound like a cheesy, too-good-to-be-true testimonial straight from an infomercial, but it’s the truth – this stuff honestly works!
I even found that my own hands, which used to be extra dry after bath time, were noticeably less irritated once we switched to Stelatopia.
The cleanser comes in a pump bottle, which I love since because it’s super tidy and doesn’t cause me to over-pour and waste a ton of soap. As I mentioned, the bottle is kind of pricey ($20.99 for 200mL) but it actually lasts a long time. A little goes a long way with this product. Two pumps is more than enough to wash Grayson’s whole body, rolls and all.
The only (very minor) downside is that Stelatopia doesn’t have that soothing “clean baby” smell, but that’s probably part of what makes it so effective. Our family is pretty sensitive to scented products, so I’m more than happy to swap the fresh baby smell for healthy skin.
Stelatopia Cream Cleanser is a keeper and its effectiveness has landed its companion product, the Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream, on our shopping list too.
If you have any other recommendations to keep our family’s dry skin in check, let me know!
